Client: White Matter Games - Heavy Bruiser Enemy NPC

Image
Concepts for a heavy hitting Enemy that would be introduced in a Construction Zone Based level. Each Level of the game would be inspired by the four elements and this enemy was intended to be a shirtless construction worker representing the element of Earth. My intention was to have a "Nude" Base with an easily recognizable silhouette and redesign the character for future stages as a modular game-play asset that fit as a familiar obstacle that the player would need to face on a consistent basis while at the same time fit the location and theme of recurring level: IE Restaurant(Fire): Chef/Waiter, Sewer (Water): Jumpsuit/Hazmat Outfit,  Skyscraper (Wind): Security Guard/Window Washer, Etc.

We ultimately decided that the player character should be shorter and that he would have a more Mafioso Inspired jacket to wear as the designs were coming along. This jacket, in the story, was originally owned by the Main Antagonist of the game who would also serve as a final boss whom the player would have similar powers/abilities to. These concepts also double as conceptual designs for NPCs and Neighborhood Kids if the designs didn't quite fit. I personally took the liberty of giving them unique names to distinguish them during group conversations and meetings. These are the procedural designs with silhouettes and line art tests with goal to create a style heavily inspired by flash/web/limited animated shows:

Rough Concepts of an Unreal/Adobe Flash Game called ALLEY-MENTAL by White Matter Games. Designs of main Player Character. Many designs were considered since there was a bevy on inspirations for the feel of the game from outline-less cartoons, flash cartoons, 90s-2000s Cartoon Network shows, to gritty comic book, modeled Metroid-Vania platformers:

Here is my personal final logo design with diverse color palettes implemented. This was intended if future projects can play with the logo for advertisements, special intros, trailers, etc.

These were brainstorming and logo designs for a small indie game company, White Matter Games.  Many of them were a play on the elements of the name, from the actual scientific meaning, to the monochromatic color palette, to other popular video games, and more:    This one inspired by chemical warning and identification signs,      While this was a simple parallax influenced by the famous Lambda Symbol,   A rare pearl/eyeball shape,  A tesseract,    To playing with early classic video game pixels/bits.  The final symbol was based on the medical/scientific name of the brain with the combination of a video game controller and an X-ray profile silhouette.
